- i meet founders before product, before traction, sometimes before the idea has a name or the business is incorporated
- where i can, i become a customer first, using what gets built, paying for it
- i open up my LP network, candidates, customers, other investors
- most of my time goes to people who haven't started a company yet and aren't fundraising
